Well, sometimes closings get turned around - in this case it sounds like it's still going forward and the closer it gets the chances of a different outcome will be less and less. As far as the current S&S comment it should be taken with a grain of salt as it's written by the Assistant lodging manager as a letter to the editor (not an objective editorial comment). |

I read in the Pacific Stars and Stripes about a editorial comment made by the assistant lodging manager at RAF Fairford. He states how sad it is that a decision has been made to permanently close down the lodging facilities at RAF Fairford. Even though Fairford is a "stand-by" base, lodging has been an important morale issue for active duty and retirees and now they are closing it down. Not sure if anyone knew about this but I thought I'd post a comment here. I was stationed at Fairford from 1979 to 1980 as my first tour of duty as a young airman in the Air Force. Sad to see it go. |
