Thank for everyone who responded. I did call the beach motel at Pt Magu, but they were booked. I made reservations for Pt Magu. Once again, thanks for the help and suggestions. Jon |

Jon, we stayed at Port H. Gateway last Fall-the room was clean and quiet-nothing special and a bit "worn" (some repair needed). We too went to the Reagan Library and noted that if we were to travel in that area again, we might do just as well getting a military discount/deal at a hotel/motel in the Thousand Oak area- less of a drive and closer to the nice beaches. |

Hi Jon ....just left Pt Mugu yesterday. The gateway inn office and rooms are close (1/4 mi) inside the gate and maybe a mile from the pax terminal. We paid $38 standard size room. Nice but only double beds. The galley although just across the street is not open to retirees. The small Nex- Subway- bowling lanes are only another block further. I did not get to Port Hueneme but was told it is nice and closer to beaches. If you look on mapquest..you can see it is actually in Oxnard and Pt Mugu is about 5 mi south. |

My wife and I have an anniversary on June 12th and are planning on visiting the Ronald Reagan Library in Simi Valley. We would like to stay at the Gateway Inn at either Port Hueneme or Pt Magu. For those who have stayed at both, which is better, closer to the beach etc? Also, is the Galley open to retirees? Thanks for your help. Jon |
