Hi Ms Gordon, Have fun at the jazz festival. It should be fun!!! What are you priorities?? Is it ease to the festival, base amenities, cost, distance, etc? I have stayed at Port Hueneme Naval Construction Base and it was satisfactory for my situation but it is about an hour from the bowl. Pt Mugu is similar. You missed one base that is about the same distance as Los Alamitos. It is Fort MacArthur/San Pedro but to the south. 1-888-235-6343. I have stayed there twice and it was very satisfactory. About a year ago I was in a similar situation and found a very nice room about 2 blocks from Disneyland. I was not going to go there but did because they (Disneyland) provided a free ticket to military. I think my room was in the $50 to $65 range and very convenient to the freeway. You might check commercial motel/hotels in general area and because you are from Travis, you probably know the traffic problems. If you have time, check out the Disneyland area. I know that Fl/Disneyworld has some free entry passes but I am not sure about L.A. this year. It was fun!!! You seem to have the basics but your priorities are important. |

Hello All - hubby and I are attending a jazz festival at the hollywood bowl this weekend June 12. Need some advice on which lodging is the closest and best accomdations. We have stayed at Los Alamitos but we are not familiar with the area. Any locals or anyone who is familiar with the area, please provide input. Thanks in advance. |
