I have always operated under the impression that retirees get last minute reservations at base lodgings, usually 24 hours in advance. So, I was surprised to see that Inns of Carolina (CHS AFB) web page stated it accepted such reservations many weeks in advance. I called 3 weeks ahead of my stay this past weekend (2 nights) and got a reservation. It was a family visit, not for a flight -- and the desk said they were "full up" the previous night, yet no problems with my well-in-advance reservation.. Nice to know. BTW: there have been some complaints about CHS lodging -- and the hallway out side our room had a rather rank odor combining a musty smell and some toxic cleaning fluid. The room itself was fine. We got a suite - sitting room, bedroom, fully equipped kitchen(ette) for $41.50/night. ("Visitor's room" is $39). |
