Those price drops lasted for 1 day only, they are now back to normal pricing.

Last yesr we waited until it was a little closer to the time of the Transatlantic cruise we were looking at and ended up getting a great deal on Dargal. We cruised on The Independence of the Seas (the largest Royal carribean ship at the time) and got a great deal (13 days) for $299. Also our friend who is not a retired vet got the same rate after serving only 5 years and he just had to send in a copy of his DD214 showing he served in the Air force. Waiting for prices to drop again this year but who knows it may not happen. It is leaving out of South Hampton England November 26. Dalton

Leaving Nov 28 from Barcelona to Miami on Celebrity Century. 14 day voyage starting at 699. for retired military. Interested to know if anyone else booked on that cruise? Celibrity is offering that rate however we found another booking site from a thread on this forum, www.dargal.com that offers very reasonable rates to airline employees, other people who work in the travel industry as well as military, active and retired. We booked the TA through Dargal. They offer great deals, I don't think many retired military are aware of this site. We are thrilled to have found it and want to pass the info along.

Having Thanksgiving early is one way to deal with the tug-of-war that can occur between competing sets of inlaws.

However, some years back WE settled this by deciding that in every odd year people were expected at our house, and in even years they were free to go to the other set of parents. (We never put pressure on to be here for Christmas, because we know that with young children that can be very difficult. However, it is often the case that one or two "sets" of our progeny show up for standing rib roast with all the trimmings...)

This odd-even thing struck the parents of one of our daughters-in-law as such a good idea that they announced they would host their kids (all 6 of them, 3 with spouses, 2 with children!) in the even years.

If this spreads far enough I can see down the line a huge problem when an EVEN marries an ODD!

I should have booked a balcony since I booked this on board before they quit letting you combine discounts. Oh well, we still will have $450.00 OBC. This spring we got upgraded to a balcony but I'm not expecting it this time. May be a little cool to get much use of a balcony anyway.

Cherry, we always have our Thanksgiving early. Our kids don't mind since that gives them a chance to spend Thanksgiving with their in laws. It just makes it hectic to come back and get ready for Christmas.

With our $200 off the $989 balcony rate for being Platinum members with Royal Caribbean it makes it even a better deal!.

We bought a one way ticket on Continental Airlines from Austin to BWI for $96.00 each. We plan on leaving 10 days prior to the cruise and catch a hop over to anywhere Europe and then make our way to Barcelona.

Hope to see you all there! :-)

Hoo-ee, that IS a fantastic deal! (The 55+ rate for a balcony is shown as $989 -- for a 14 day cruise!)

Wish we too could do it, but unfortunately (or fortunately, actually) we'll have all 3 offspring, their spouses (spice?) and 6 grandchildren here for Thanksgiving on the 26th, and that just would not give enough time to get to Barcelona...

Ken, Jerry and I will be on this cruise. This will be the third time we have done the Barcelona to Galveston. We did the Galveston to England cruise this spring and will use the second half of our airline ticket to go back to England and spend a couple nights then fly BA to Barcelona. We will spend 3 nights in Barcelona.

Anyone else taking the transatlantic cruise from Barcelona - Galveston, TX? Prices starting at $749 for a 14 day cruise, not too bad. Nov 29 - Dec13 09.

We kept saying we were NOT going to cruise this year! Oh well, here we go again. :-)
