When we did cruise we stayed overnight at Comfort Inn Sattle using military rate. They have free shuttle to and from airport. We also used the bus from the hotel. Roger in Fl |

Across the street from the Train Station in Vancouver BC, you can take the Sky Train for about $2.00 right to Canada Place where the cruise ship docks. Done it a number of times with no problems... Make sure that you have Canadian money for the Sky Train ticket machine. |

I second the motion. My wife and I took a cruise last year that departed from Vancouver and we spent the night in Seattle and took the AMTRAK the next day to Vancouver. I bought the AMTRAK tickets in San Diego prior to leaving and that worked out great. The train only leaves once a day at about 7:00am, otherwise, AMTRAK puts you on a bus to Vancouver. We arrived at the station about 5:30am and since I already had a ticket, I filled out the luggage tag and I was first in line to check our baggage and pick out our seat. We asked for seats on the same side as the coast. Beautiful scenery for the trip. I would try to get a hotel near the AMTRAK station the night before. |

If planning a cruise leaving Vancouver BC,(Canada) consider flying into to Seattle (either Space A to McChord or commercial-Southwest, etc.)and then take the Amtrak Cascade train-about 4 hours to Vancouver. The ride is scenic (given decent weather),comfortable, and way less crowded than airport travel with many others getting to the port. If you choose Amtrak "Business Class", you get preferred boarding/reserved seating, a food/drink coupon for $3.00, and preference for exiting the train to go through Canadian customs/immigrations. The taxi ride from the Vancouver train station to the port area is short-about $11-12(Canadian). Scheduling may require an overnight in downtown Seattle, not a bad place to spend some time. Lastly, there is a Grayline Bus shuttle that leaves SEATAC every 30 minutes for many of the downtown Seattle hotels-cost for a one way ticket is $11.00/person (vs. a taxi that can run $40-50). Purchase tickets at Door 00 on the baggage claim level. |
