I'm sending along a web site that has an article on booking a last minute cruise at the pier. Your see on this site "BOOKING A CRUISE AT THE PIER" This explains the policy. Can't be done anymore. http://cruisediva.com/ |

I meant to write 48-72 hours in advance. I know it is at least 2 days. |

I think years ago the very "last minute" cruise was possible. I mean within a few hours. These days the reservation must be made either 24 or 36 hours ahead of time. I cannot remember which, but I do remember that we flew space-a to Hawaii last year thinking we would sign up for a cruise from Honolulu to Los Angeles if we made it there, but when we checked the internet the next morning that cruise was not even listed. We even went to their office down at the port to beg our case but it didn't work. They told us the advance notice is now necessary because of some security-type checking they do of every person ahead of time. However, you can still get some really good deals 2-3 days in advance if you keep checking around. |

Whenever you see last minute cruise deals, the actual departure date is usually many days away. Has anybody ever tried to show up a couple hours before the ship leaves port and get a cabin? Just recently I heard someone say that some cruise lines allow this at nearly give away prices. Any truth? I remember awhile back there was a post here from someone that worked for a cruise line?
