For St. Lucia we booked a catammarran tour to Marigot Bay (Dr. Doolitle was filmed there). We had sailed a 44 ft. sailboat into the bay many years ago and wanted to see how it changed. Really enjoyed that tour. Barbados is know for their monkeys, we toured a wildlife park and surrounding area via a truck. It was great. St. Thomas is a shoppers paradise, been there many times and haven't taken a tour lately. The cable car up to a neat bar was fun.

Diane,

Thanks. Your cruise is the one we wanted to do, but this one came up, really cheap, at a time we could go. Sort of like space-a: go when you can, where ever you can. We are staying in San Juan the night before the cruise, but we've booked at Ft. Buchanan for the night after the cruise, so we have an extra full day. We don't get to St. Kitts or Dominica (hear Dominica is beautiful). Our cruise does go to St. Thomas, St. Lucia and Barbados. Are there any particular sights or excursions on those islands that you really liked?

We cruised on Carnival and visited St. Thomas, St Kitts, St Lucia Dominica, all beautiful countries. Ft. Buchanan's lodging is like a really nice motel and includes a continental breakfast. The Bx is nearby and has a food court, where we ate. The lodge is quite a way from the port but the price of a hotel in San Juan was greater than the cost for the lodge(ElCaney) and rental car. We used Hertz.

Diane, What cruise did you take? Which islands? Any recs for things you liked? We did this so last minute, it is a rush trying to figure out the rest of the trip.

Lee, We didn't really get cheap flights, but from BWI (Baltimore) we got flts for around $250.00 RT. Could have gotten them much cheaper another time, but not for the cruise. We figured the cruise was such a good deal, we would go for the airfare anyway, and we wanted to get there a day early and stay a day after the cruise.

Diane, I was just about to book a hotel, but had thought of Ft. Buchanan also. What are their facilities like? How far is it from the port? Do we really need a car if we stay closer to the port? What did you see in SJ? Any other advice? Thanks

Spirit Airlines goes from Ft. Lauderdale to Puerto Rico. You can get to Miami easily from Ft. Lauderdale, if needed. Also, we stayed at FT. Buchanan, pre cruise. Rented a car at airport and dropped it off near the port.

Sandor,

How do you get a cheap flight to San Juan? I've tried and can't find anything less than around $300 from Miami. This is a nice opportunity to cruise if you can get to the PR.

We booked last week a seven night cruise, departing SJ on March 21, on Caribbean Princess at the astoundingly low price of $299.00. Tonight, they reduced it even lower to $199.00. It is number 17848 on the vacationtogo website.
