Another source is USAA. I usually check "Insure my Trip" and find that USAA has the best prices some of the products. We also travel at least two times a year on cruises and always purchase travel insurance in case we get sick or other problems en route. Health care is a profit center on ships now. So their costs are really high. David |

I got really sick just before our cruise last year, was in the hosp. for a week. We used travel guard. The insurance paid for everything we spent. Whatever it cost it was well worth it. We cruise at least twice a year and will not travel without insurance. |

I'd like to say thanks to everyone for the info. I tried my visa platinum card but not much coverage there, except for death or loss of limb. I then tried Access America and it was $291. I couldn't get into insurance store so i tried Dee Dee's suggestion and got a good rate for a 31 day South Pacific trip at only $191 total for both of us. I booked that one and it has trip guarantee as well as medical and evacuation at one million. Thanks for all the info. This site is great. |

For pre-existing medical conditions to be covered by trip insurance, the insurance often has to be purchased within a certain number of days after payment for the trip. Be sure to read the fine print if you think this may apply to you. |

I have read this thread with interest. As you can see by my other postings,my wife and I are taking a Carribean cruise in Oct 2010. On our last cruise we purchased the Norwegian Cruise Lines Platinum Travel Insurance. Our main concern is the medical portion. Especially the part where we can be flown out to the US for treatment should that be required.(the trip ins is also nice).Does anyone know if the Insurance carriers mentioned in this thread are less expensive? Reliable? We both have pre existing conditions but nothing that will cause a problem cruising. Heck we snorkle and hike. Any info from those of you who have had experience would be greatly appreciated.Oh and since the cruise is during Hurricane season would that be covered? |

Thanks for the tip! We took out vacation insurance with Accessamerica for period of 29-days & $900 in travel costs for $86. Being under Texas law, they couldn't cover us for auto. elf |

Check to see if you have a "World Card" credit card. My Mastercard "World" card provides trip insurance that is equal to most crusie line trip insurance and it is a free benefit of the card. |

Dalton, you may have recalled my previous mentions of this travel insurance agency: http://www.tripinsurancestore.com/ I have used them several times and received excellent, personalized service. They will compare insurors and work to get you exactly what you need. (On one trip we did have a claim, and it was very promptly paid.) |

Does anyone know of a discount cruise insurer that is reputable. We are going on a 31 day cruise to the South Pacific and the insurance offered by the discounter seemed a bit high. In the past I saw a mention of a good company posted on this site but was unable to find it again. Thanks in advance |
