Bill: Are you asking about the Day Cruises (where you find a Hotel/Hostel/B&B for the night) rather than the Seven-Day Cruises (where the boat is your hotel) that we (Phylis, Bob and I) are familiar with? I am not sure that the Day Cruises operate in the Winter. Maybe someone who has taken the day trips could chime in? Happy travels, John |

Bill, we did the Rhine from Switzerland to the Netherlands. You get a very different perspective from the river opposed to traveling the highwway paralleling the river. It's great to dock in the evening and enjoy each town at night. I wouldn't hesitate in doing it. |

Bill, Jim and I did this with on Grand Circle Travel. It was wonderful. We stayed on one boat for the entire time, each day in a different port, traveled at night, except for Saturday. We stay in the same city overnight, so folks could go to mass/church in the morning. We loved it, only about 110 poeple on board. We had one tour guide for the entire trip, touring in the morning, on your own in the afternoon. Since the boat was small it tired up in the middle of town and was a very walkable distance to anything we wanted to do. |

We are thinking of taking a river cruise to visit some of the Europe Christmas marts in December. We would fly Space A to Ramstein & then make our way to the departure destination. Can we take daily river cruises from port to port or must we sign up in advance for a 7 day cruise. Thanks for any information or advice. Bill Mac |
