Disney is the the best, everyone gets treated like royality and the food is wonderful. Kids are there but one adult attendant to every eight kids. They walk everywhere and do not tie up the elevators. They have kids pool and a separte adult pool. If you go you will compare every other cruise to it. |

Yes, it's nice to options, isn't it? We've cruised traditional dining as well, but prefer the flexibility of eating when and where we like. We also like meeting different people, as well as eating some meals alone, so Freestyle works well for us. It's not for everyone, but we've found that it is what we prefer. |

It's very interesting how true "different strokes for different folks" is! We took a NCL cruise (around Hawaii) and found we didn't much like the freestyle dining. We actually prefer an assigned table for one meal a day so we become better acquainted with some of our fellow travelers (and maybe arrange to go ashore with them, or at least wave when we see them around the ship) instead of either dining only with each other at all 3 meals OR else meeting a new group at every meal and repeating the initial getting-to-know-you conversation without ever really learning names and interesting info. (Even with assigned dinner tables you can always go to the informal dining option if you feel like it.) Therefore we like Holland America best, because of the excellent service. Have also enjoyed Celebrity (service not quite as good, food maybe a shade better?) and Royal Caribbean (a little more down-market but still nice ships). All of these offer the assigned dining option, and we ask for a table for 8. Have always had very pleasant dinner companions. When in port along with a Carnival ship those passengers have seemed younger, trendy, louder, more party-animals. I heard they have bacchanals (like wet t-shirt contests) aboard--not our thing. |

A cousin of mine took their 5 year old grandson on a Disney cruise and really enjoyed it. We have cruised on Celebrity (our favorite), MSC Cruises ( a very European flavor), RCI, Carnival and Norwegian. Frankly I will never sail on Norwegian again. Ever since the Chinese bought them the quality has plummeted. Wish the other cruise lines would adopt their free-style dining, though. |

We love NCL's Freestyle cruising. Going again in January to celebrate retirement from 21 years in the Army. |

Reminds me of an old story: Old timer standing on the deck beside a young new sailor holding on the rail with a severe case of "restless stomach". What's the matter son? looks like you have a weak stomach!! His response: Weak Hell, I'm throwing it as far as anyone else! |

Both Helos and 130's at low at altitudes are some rough going. Nothing like a cruise. You and your family shouldn't have any problems with sea sickness. Wife and I drive from Jax to Canaveral at least twice a year for a cruise. She gets seasick just driving over the St. Johns River at NAS Jax. With that said, she has never had any problems on a cruise. Lets us know how it went. |

we have been on Princess, Holland and NCL and not had any problems. The one line I think I would stay away from is Carnival. The folks who I have talked with that have been on them say never again. I think they like to get the younger folks 18/30 and push the drinks. One person I know was on one of their ships and people were taken off with alcohol poisoning. I agree with Ed about Holland, it is a dead ship, but great service. |

Mike-Wasn't you in Special Ops? If so, I am sure you did a few NOE flights, both fixed wing and rotator during your career. If that didn't bother you, a cruise ship will be a piece of cake. It is really not bad unless you have bad weather (like a hurricane). Enjoy! |

I figure if the kids don't get sea sick I won't either. These days they are having so many problems on Cruise lines especially food poisining and corruption Disney is probably the best bet. |

Mike: haven't done Disney: probably too many kids aboard. Can recommend Princess(4 times), been on Holland(too many very old folks, dead ship), & Royal Caribbean fun ship but too big for me. The ships are big, don't move around much at sea unless you're in a big blow. Understand the patches do work, never had to use one, being a Navy man. |

have not done Disney, but had done many others. As for getting sick, you just have your doctor give your a prescription for the patches you put in back of your ear. You put it on before going on the ship, they are good for about 3 days, and than you just put a new one in back of the other ear. Also remember mid ship inside is the most stable if you are looking to have the smoothest cabin. We have been docked next to Disney, lots and lots of kids on board. We like Princess, Holland and NCL. |

Has anyone ever experienced a Disney Cruise, If so how was it, and would you recommend it? I've never been on a Cruise in my life. I'm afraid I'll get sea sick, but thinking about trying a Disney cruise first. |
