Don,
Delighted to hear that you will be joining us on our forthcoming cruise. Fortunately our travel agent was able to obtain an upgraded inside cabin for us on the Baja deck. We have been to Costa Rica in the past, however, we are not familiar with Arenal/Tabacon Hot Springs in Puntarenas. We will check on the website to find out as much as we can about the tour you recommended. We appreciate your input. We look forward to meeting you and an opportunity to share travel stories with you.

Eileen,

My wife and I are also booked on the 1 March cruise from San Juan to Lima and return.

Our cabin is in the sub-basement (P105) but that is ok as the lower levels have less motion. They are the same size as those on the upper level.

Have you pre-booked any tours? If not do so and book the Arenal/Tabacon Hot Springs in Puntarenas, Costa Rica. Of all the tours I highly recommend that one. We went there about 5 years ago and was glad that it was the last tour we took as the others that we thought were good would have been so overshadowed. Pricy it is.

Look forward to seeing you and your husband on the cruise.

We identified the cruise on the "vacations to go" website (http://www.vacationstogo.com/ticker.cfm?r=0&jpw=103&l=3&td=150). However, I made the actual reservation with MOAA (Military Officers Assn. of America), with Theresa Lunberg (phone: 1-800-211-5107). The actual cost of the cruise with all taxes and fees comes out to $48.68 a day. However, please keep in mind that it leaves from San Juan, Puerto Rico. We were able to get a cheap fare from Michigan for $280 R/T. As a result including cruise and airfare the cost comes out to $60.35 a day per person. If you have any other question and if I can help you in any other way, please let me know.

Presumably at www.vacationstogo.com, click on "military rates", then "Princess cruises". You may have to register.

Keep in mind, that is $1,099 per person, so that is about $100 per day for a couple.

My huband and I have just booked a cruise departing from San Juan, Puerto Rico for 24 nights departing March 1, 2007 on the Regal Princess. This is at the military rate of $1,099 plus $69.35 in taxes. This comes out to less than $50 a day. It has an interesting itinerary transitting the Panama Canal from one end to the other. The ships destination is Lima, Peru and then it returns to Puerto Rico. Hope we could meet someone from the board on this cruise.
