My primary suggestion is not to try to tour any of those places "on your own." Instead, take a group tour (or engage a guide as soon as you go ashore) because otherwise you will be HOUNDED by people who want you to hire them to show you around. In this case I recommend taking one of the pre-arranged ship's tours for the best value and least hassle (although normally we like to make our own way around in most ports)--North Africa is just a very different kind of place. |

Went by train some time ago from Tangier to Fez. You'll need more than 13 hours as it was an overnight and to have time to navigate the medina and the markets in Fez and return to Tangier. |

Our cruise ship makes an 11 hour stop in Tangier in early May. From what I can read, Fez sounds like the place to see, but it is too far for the 13 hours available. I know that Rota has guide set-ups, but in this case, does anyone have any suggestions? |
