I failed to mention that we were on a 15 day cruise and that I had my personal car. At $12 a day for 15 days it would be $180 just for the parking at the terminal. We paid $3 a day for 15 days which is $45 plus $16 for the shuttle totaling $61. My point basically is that the Comfort Inn at RJ Stadium is a place you can park your car and is cheaper that the terminal parking for those long cruises. I apologize for not being more specific |

This may be trivial, but it needs to be corrected. The difference between a boat and a ship. You can put a boat on a ship but you cannot put a ship on a boat. Thanks, Garland (USNRET) |

Jerry, D is from Arizona, so he presumably flew in for the cruise departure. It is common to arrive the day before and stay overnight at the port in case something goes wrong with the flight. We did that when we cruised from Ft. Lauderdale. If that is the case, then his parking cost was $57 and yours $84. Not a big difference, to be sure. But maybe he "wrote off" the cost of the room as not related to the parking. |

D., I don't get it. I paid $84.00 for parking for 7 days at the terminal garage. For those same 7 days you're paying $21.00 for parking, $16.00 for the shuttle, $20.00 for the taxi which makes, so far $57.00. Add the price of the room to that, which is more than $27.00, I'm sure, and who comes out ahead? |

My wife and I recently returned from a cruise out of Tampa FL and stayed at the Comfort Inn near Raymond James Stadium on 4732 N. Dale Mabry, Tampa - Telphone: (813) 874-6700. It cost $3.00 a day which is better than the $12 or $15 at the cruise boat terminal. We stayed the night prior to the cruise and used their shuttle ($16) to the terminal. When we returned we just caught a cab back to the motel ($20) put our bags in the car and left. |

The USAF has done away with vehicle decals. Now you need to fill out a form at Security Forces and show current registration and Insurance along with your military ID. There are some hotels (best western is one) where you can park in their lot as long as you stay one night in the hotel either going out or coming back in. I did this in March at the Best Western at the Charlotte Airport. |

The Tampa Cruise Terminal also has a valet service that parks and retrieves your car for the duration of your cruise. I used it last year and was surprised about it's reasonable charge over the $12/day park fee. Can't remember exactly what it was but I'm a cheapskate normally. |

It is much more convient to park in the lot in front of the terminal for $12; short walk and cheaper than many hotels and airports. Check out their web site if you haven't already. H |

D.Hartje, You wrote:"McDill AFB won’t let you park your car on base unless you are stationed at McDill." Not entirerly the case in all instances. If you go to the terminal for a spacea flight you can park in long term provided you have a DOD vehicle decal. You do not have to be stationed at MacDill. |

Have gone on several cruises out of Miami and used the park n fly program at Wyndham hotel there. Might check with Wyndham, Tampa to see if they have same program. It was more reasonable that using the parking facility at the cruise terminal. |

Does anyone have any suggestions on parking your car; in Tampa, FL, while on a Western Caribbean cruise? McDill AFB won’t let you park your car on base unless you are stationed at McDill. We haven’t found any motel where you can stay the night before the cruise and the night after the cruise and you can leave your car at the motel for the duration of the cruise. |
