I just returned this past Sunday from a 7 day Caribbean cruise on Royal Caribbean which owns Celebrity Cruise Line. Before I booked my cruise I tried twice through two local TA's and then through Royal Caribbean for a military discount, without any luck. I did have a lady at AAA Travel tell me Royal Caribbean only gives military or other discounts if the cruise (for that week) is not a complete sell-out. If it's a sell-out forget discounts of any kind. At least that is what I was told. I paid the regular price and still had a wonderful time. |

are you sure Celebrity doesn't give military discounts? I have cruised on them before with the discount. It is not as much of a discount as it used to be, but RCCL & Celebrity do offer discounts. I use an interliner travel agency and always get the discounts. Just got back from a 12 day cruise Rome to Rome. Got it for under $1000 pp. Carnival Freedom. |

FYI, as a retired military and part time cruise travel agent I can tell you that the best time to see if prices drop will be 70 to 75 days prior to sailing because that is when final payment is required by most cruise lines. |

As a result of a private message, we are delighted to hear that there is a member of the board who will be joining us on this cruise. Rather than getting the $699 price we opt to go two grades higher (category 10) on the Panorama Deck for $729 plus taxes of approximately $75 making it a total of $803.92. The price of a cruise often goes down just before sailing when many people cancel out just prior to the final payment. Hope someone else can still join us. |

Jan, don't give up. It may still go down, it's early for next spring. Glad you did OK with all the floods. |

My husband and I would love to have some Dirk Pepperd Space-A members join us on a 16 day cruise out of Miami to Rome departing May 3, 2008. It is a sixteen day cruise with the starting price of $699 (including port charges but plus government taxes). This is not a mililtary rate. The price is for all cruisers. Celebrity does not discount their cruises so you can get this price with any travel agent. The cruise bookings appear to be going fast, so if you are interested it would be well to act soon. The final payment is not due until 90 days before departure and you can cancel at any time prior to the 90 days departure without a cancellation fee. Hope to have someone join us. Eileen |
