Turns out the ship skipped Cadiz on 4/23. However, we debarked in Barcelona and the cruise line paid our air fare to Seville on the 26th. We thoroughly enjoyed three days in Barcelona in the fall of 2006; it is a great city to visit. We are in Rota now and spent yesterday in Cadiz after taking the ferry there. We were impressed with Cadiz. More later in a trip report. We hope to SPAT home tomorrow.

David,

I agree with Phyllis, you should make it through to Barcelona on the ship and then make it down to Cadiz. You can fly fairly cheap from Barcelona to Jerez or even take a bus or a train.

Happy travels!

Phyllis, we spent three days in Barcelona last spring and really enjoyed our stay. We were back briefly last fall for a transit on B2B cruises. You are correct about Barcelona it is lovely. Two years ago, we arrived in Barcelona and went directly to the airport. That was a shame. I was complaining about that bone head decision while we were at the airport. Anyway, we look forward to spending a few days in Andalucia (sp) prior to heading home.

David we have loved the last two years on a transatlantic cruise. I was not sure the first time, but had such fun we did it again and will next year too. There are so many things to keep you busy, if you want, or just relax reading a book or whatever you like. I'm sure you will have a wonderful time. Cadiz was very nice city, shame you are not going up to Barcelona than work your way to Rota. Barcelona is a lovely city to visit.

Phyllis, I just ordered two Bandanas. Maybe some fellow cruisers/SPATS will notice. This will be our first Space A trip across the pond since 1974; that trip was also to Rota.

dinotars, I don't know. We are not doing a cruise this year, to many thing going on here at home. David, while you are in the process of boarding and get underway, why not just put a red bandanna on your bag, belt or something like that maybe you will see more folks.

I like to idea of posting a SPAT get together. I am an MOAA member, but did not book through their travel. Are then any other SPATs out there on this cruise?

Is that the cruise listed in MOAA Vacations?

On the cruise last year, Lois Webb & I posted a note on the ships bulletin board, by the pursers desk about a SPATS get together. We ended up with about 25 - 30 folks showing up. One night another couple set up a dinner get together in the open dinning area and again a good turnout. Maybe they will have a board on this ship too, and you could post it.

Maybe we can get together for a drink on the cruise and talk Space A. We did Space A in the 1970's but only a quick trip to Florida from Charleston since. So, we are learning the ropes again.

Is anyone on the Navigator of the Seas departing Fort Lauderdale on April 12 to Barcelona, Spain? The ship goes to Cadiz on the way to Barcelona and we are jumping ship there. There is a ferry to Rota from Cadiz.
