Thanks David for the info. The Montserrat is #1 on my wifes list. We will be staying in Tarragona for a week and both sites will be very helpful. Plan to make several trips into Barcelona via train.

John, Dinotars site is one of our favorites. Barcelona is a beautiful city --terrific fun and so much to see and do. Last December we took the port shuttle back to the ship--wish we'd knon about it sooner! There were several couples with luggage on the bus. Lots of ship's crew as well.

Take the time to click on the many sites on that page. It was our"bible" when planning our visits. Here's another subway resource http://www.amadeus.net/home/subwaymaps/en/barcelona.htm

If you have the time to visit Montserrat, go very early in the AM, leaving from Pl Espana. There is a kiosk with very helpful people who will get you inexpensive round-trip tickets. Far superior to the tours.

Get there early, take the funicular to the top. You will be able to enjoy everything before most of the tour busses arrive. The train ride and the tram are great ways to see the area.

Would any one know if there is a train station near the port where cruise ships end their cruises in Barcelona? I am trying to figure out a way to get to Sants Station from the port.
