Hi, Phyllis,

That is very useful information. I am going on a cruise with a friend in early May (Carnival) and appreciate your experience with finding better prices for services.

Thanks.

Roger in Jacksonville, FL

We just got back from a 7 day trip to Key West, Freeport and Nassau. Just a couple thing that might help others. In Key West, the little train that takes you around the island is a very short walk from the ship, and you can buy tickets there much cheaper than on board. Also a walk down Duval Street is always good, stop at Hogs breath for a cold one on the way back to the ship. Now I have two favorite places to shop here, one is for sandals, this is in back of the Hog Breath, $11.00 a pair and I love em. The other is the Key West Fabric shop. It is two blocks off Duval going towards the naval base, you turn at a bar I forget the name of it, walk two block, first you will see Key West Fragrance, they have nice soap, lotions and things like that. The fabric/dress shop is across the street from them. In Freeport, we got off the ship all the taxis want $35.00 each to drive us around the island. We walked past the taxi stand by the ship, to outside the fence area, it is safe, and got a nice big limo for $20.00 each for 6 of us. Had lots of leg room and very good ride. We toured the island, not much to see, stopped at a local liquor store for "free" sample of rums, than off to the big casino and shopping area. We gave the driver a time to pick us up and she was there. Over in Nassau we got off the ship, went into the building there got ferry tickets, $3.00 each, and went over to Paradise Island to the Atalantis Hotel. You can see most of this for free, just can't use the beach, you can walk all over see the underwater view of the fish and folks swimming with them, stop for a drink, shop and when you are ready either take the boat back for $3.00 or they will have cabs for the same price when you get down near the ferry landing. Also just out side the dock where the ship ties up, you can get horse and carriage rides, we have done this in the past and it was fun too. On the boat ride over to Paradise Island, a local tour guide will give you a talk about who lives where and what happen where, and than he will pass the hat.
