Jan, Lois and I still wish you were going, but understand why you aren't. |

I agree with Phyllis -- the entire ship was open. In fact, on most repositioning cruises there are few children and on ours the area usually reserved for their area was open to anyone. That meant there was a nice deck on the stern of Deck 12 we could all enjoy. Repositioning cruises have had a reputation for being only about half-full. Our 46-dayer was actually 3 separate back-to-back 15 or 16 dayers and the middle one, the actual around the Horn part, was full, the others about 2/3 full. But the transatlantic repositioning cruises this year have sold out -- the Royal Caribbean transatlantic from Galveston that Phyllis is taking, and also the ones from Ft. Lauderdale and Santo Domingo are sold out or nearly so. |

Can't speak for Jan's cruise, but the ones we have been on the entire ship is open. We leave in 3 weeks on one from Texas to England, and it is sold out. The price is always so good and with space A flying it is a nice way to travel. |

Thanks for the reply, Jan. WOW~~ 46 DAY CRUISE? I bet it was a fantastic trip. Question!! On a repositioning sail, do they close various parts of the ship due to the amount of people on it? I'd imagine that there is NOT a full passenger load taking a trip, compared to a general cruise. Or is it business as usual. Is there a reduction of staff on board? Just curious. Thanks Dennis (Sarge) |

Hi Sarge -- We just returned from the 46-Day Repositioning cruise from Florida to LA the long way, around Cape Horn. It was awesome. It was on Mariner of the Seas, but a friend was recently on Jewel of the Seas and said that the Bonine/Meclizine and vending machines I mentioned were available there also. |

Jan: That's interesting. What ship were you on? We're going on a RCL in early May to the Med on Brillence of the Sea. |

We recently returned from a Royal Caribbean cruise and heard this info on cruisecritic.com and checked it out and it is true. If you go down to the Medical Center on Deck 1 there is a reception area which is open 24/7 which has a basket of Bonine/Meclizine for no charge in little packets of 2 tablets/packet. Interesting that in the little store on board you can buy Bonine and they don't tell you that you can just go to the Medical Center and get some for free. They also have small vending machines on the wall, $0.50 per item so take quarters, of things like bandaids, safety pins, aspirin, Tylenol, anti-diarrhea meds, plus lots of other things I can't remember specifically. Check it out on your next cruise. |
