We just returned from a Holland America Cruise Tour - 3 days cruising out of Vancouver, then 8 days of touring Alaska, the Yukon Territory of Canada, and then Alaska again. Although it meant literally living out of a suitcase for those last 8 days, I highly recommend it. Our Tour Guide on the bus was a college girl and was wonderful. The bus drivers were also college age and had the most wonderful personalities, and were so capable for their age. I haven't met such nice wholesome kids in a long time. Holland America must have very good recruiters to find such great kids. There was never a dull moment, whether we were on a tour bus for 8 to 10 hours, or a train that had several delays because of a hazmat spill on the highway between Fairbanks and Anchorage. Even the waiters and waitresses in the hotel restaurants were great, mostly college age kids from the U.S. or Bulgaria. I am so glad that we chose this time period for our trip, because a lot of the students were leaving to return to college and the cruise tours will be shorthanded during the last week of August and the month of September. Something to remember when booking a future cruise tour. |
