@Jack What error do you get from Fring? All you need to do is to setup your Skype there, username and password. Then when making a Fring call it will ask you how do you want to make the call, just choose Skype. |

Paul: I have downloaded fring but still cannot find out how to make a Skype call on my new EVO 4g phone from Sprint. Sprint says it will get Skype but no telling when. |

All: In my post I said I was giving up my Blackberry in favor of the new 4G EVO. It is fantastic and, according to a tech report in the Orlando Sentinel this morning, better than the iPhone. I have downloaded "fring" but have not worked through it enough to be able to make a call. I have done the test and it supposedly works. I am trying to figure out how to import Skype names to call them. Sprint tells me they will offer Skype sometime soon. Any other ideas, tips appreciated. |

I'm using Onesuite too. http://www.onesuite.com It is prepaid and rates are very good. Onesuite is a phone card, VoIP, fax and forwarding service all rolled into one. @Jack: Check out Nimbuzz for Blackberry too. You can use Skype, YM, MSN etc on Berry. http://appworld.blackberry.com/webstore/content/4288 |

OneSuite.com works great for regular long distance phone calls as well as VOIP. Have used it stateside for years. It's accessible world-wide through local phone numbers. Used its VOIP service through my netbook during my trip to Germany in April. Very cheap; prepaid through online account. |

After finally deciding to forego my Blackberry with the new 4G Evo by Sprint, I was slightly disappointed to find Skype not available to Sprint, despite what my inept Best Buy sales-"child" said. I love the Evo - it does everything the iPhone does (so far)- but I do want VOIP capability, especially with Evo's front-facing camera. It has two cameras - the front facing - and an 8 mp which is terrific. Apparently Verizon has Skype tied up as I suspect iPhone does as well. The "kiddy-corps" at Best Buy assure me that they have to give it to Sprint but I am not so sure. Does anyone have another app that might be similar and would work with my EVO? BTW, I do not mean to be that hard on the Best Buy workers but I could have been in and out of the store four times in the amount of time it took to get my account squared away and minimal training. Between a girl friend's car breaking down and another's sports team having problems it was maddening! |

Denny: I've used Packet8 for my home VOIP. I live off-grid, so we don't have a "land-line". We have a micro-wave shot to a mountain about 15 miles LOS that brings in our dataline. The VOIP rides that data line and is set up as our "landline". We also have cell phones. For travel, I use Skype. Happy Travels, John |

I use Skype. Can't comment pro or con with any authority on other service providers since I've never used another VOIP service. Skype is very inexpensive and easy to use overseas. I have it loaded on both my netbook and i-phone. |
