I spent the 12-23 of April in Ramstein for some medical appointments and got in 10 rounds up there. If I has it to do over I would have taken my own clubs. The staff there was wonderful to me and I wished we had a base course in Sigonella like they do up there. Down here we travel 1.5 hours to one course and 34 minutes to the other. |

If any of you golfers live in Central Florida or are visiting the Orlando area on or about June 4 the Marine Corps Combat Correspondents Association's Florida Chapter is sponsoring its annual tournament at the Ridgewood Lake Golf Club with an 8 a.m. shotgun start. The tournament benefits America's wounded Marines and is a bargain at $75 which includes golf, lunch, all the Heineken products you can handle, etc. Send me a private email if intereted. |

In the past 10 years I've played approx 150 courses, 70 of which are military base courses (many of them multiple times) -- all CONUS, except for Hawaii (Oahu). Access to these base courses has been my biggest military retirement benefit (except for the monthly check), although in a few years that second priority will likely shift to Tricare. |

Mary: When the volcanic ash now blanketing Europe and UK ends try space-a-ing to Mildenhall then go up to Scotland. I started my adventures in 1979 and managed to play all of the Open Championship (British Open) venues in Scotland several times over in my 30+visits. Also have played manyt courses in Germany and Spain. My reco would be leave the clubs at home and rent when traveling abroad. I say this only because it is a chore lugging clubs and suitcases. If interested, send me a private email. |

Golf courses are very good places on base to have breakfast. Bowling alleys are good places to eat late when everthing else is closed. |

Mary -- if you have a car and have the time, you might check out the Carolina Lakes course at Shaw AFB; Wrenwoods course at Charleston AFB; Redbank Plantation course at the Naval Weapons Station in Goose Creek; and the Legends course at Parris Island; all very nice courses for a great price. |

I'm sure that we aren't the only space-a folks to drag our clubs along on some trips. We are currently at Fort Jackson in Columbia, South Carolina. They have 2 terrific 18 hole courses which we really enjoyed. $30 for both of us, walking. BOQ is $57 a night. Great golf holiday in the lovely southern spring. |
