Good idea Larry but I don't think they allow alcohol in the park.

Yep, the beer at the BFB is way overpriced. I've had cheaper suds at the nudie bar!

I've often wondered if the Hale Koa management would allow us to reserve some of those picnic tables in the grassy lot adjacent to the BFB. We could have a simple buffet (catered or put together ourselves) like we had at the Spring SPAT get together at Scott AFB 2 years ago, buy a couple cases of beer & sodas from the little PX in the H.K., etc.

We'd probably have better luck getting the mgr's permission if some of our attendees were staying at the Hale Koa, and THEY coordinated it. That way the manager couldn't ask "Yeah, well what's in it for US? You're using our facilities but not buying our food and booze!"

Phil
We agree about the prices and unwelcome attitude at the Bare Foot Bar. I don't think the Sea Breeze is a good choice because of the location. The only way to get there is to have a car. The Hale Koa is convenient. Is there another good location? Maybe Sam & Pat, or someone else can suggest someplace. I will volunteer to write to the Hale Koa management to see if some thing better can be arranged....

I'm for a change in venue.

Last time we were spoken to rudely... asked to separate the tables... or move, beer was very expensive and parking was atrocious.

I just don't think that we were welcome.

How about the "Sea Breeze Restaurant Sand Bar and Grill" (http://hickamservices.com/sea-breeze-restaurante.asp) on Hickam?

At the Sea Breeze, there is beach swimming, food, drinks, the whole range of activities and fun.

I thought it was almost standard that it is to be on the last weekend in January.... Sounds like a plan to me.... Some come earlier, some stay later... Everyone hopefully gets there sometime within that time window that wants to.....

I'm planning on it myself...... I have been known to travel long distances for a beer... ;-)

I agree. The time seems to work well for most spats. We will be there. Thanks, Larry, for starting this, we were just talking about it. I heard today that they are removing the fence.

Yeah, I know.....it's way early but the sooner we can come to a consensus as to the dates the easier it will be to make plans. Those who want to reserve rooms at the Hale Koa probably need all the lead time they can get.

My suggestion for the Barefoot Bar get together behind the Hale Koa Hotel in Waikiki is Thursday, 27 JAN through Sunday, 30 JAN. The kids should all be back in school and the backlogs at Travis, NI and FW should have been broken by then.

What do you all think?
