Let me add my congratulations also, Dirk. I know the commitment it requires.

I entered the USAF almost immediately after H.S. graduation and didn't start off-duty college studies until four years later. It took me 14 years to get my BA and another two for my Master of Library Science, just before retiring from the USAF. Thirteen years later I began part-time studies in seminary, while working full-time, graduating six years later and being ordained. I now am fully retired and loving it.

It sounds like you continue to have a "heads up" life plan. Keep up the good work!

Hearty congratulations, Dirk! You have accomplished something that very few people do -- working full time AND achieving your educational goal(s).

Way to go Dirk! After two BS degrees I decided to go to law school at the age of 44. Many said "look how old you will be when you finish". My reply was "look how old I will be if I don't go". Finished at age 48 by going 5 nites a week for 4 years while working full time. Started practice immediately and came back to teach for 4 years. Had a ball! Made a bundle! Helped alot of people! It can be done, just hang in there!

I know it's a relief to be through and at the same time a tremendous feeling of accomplishment to fulfill this dream when you're no longer a traditional student.

Thanks everyone! It's great to finally achieve a goal even if it takes a while longer than you wanted. I'm working on a second bachelors now in Computer Networking from Florida State College at Jacksonville. Down the road I'm looking at a Masters from University of Florida.

Just saw this over on Dirk's Facebook account:

"Finally graduating from University of Phoenix today! It only took me 10 years to get a 4 year degree but at least I'm finally done."

Congratulations Dirk! Job well done! John
