Your suggestions are excellent. This is what seems to be shaping up. Take a train from K-town to Paris, stay there a few days and grab a tour to Normandy and back. I'll check on the various prices. Then take the high speed train to Nice or one of the other key cities on the Med and stay in Avignon where we can rent a car and tour the area until we are saturated with the culture and then either take a train back to Paris and on to K-town or fly to Frankfurt and hop the shuttle or a train to K-town. Does this make sense to all those that have been there? We are getting on in years and we don't want to beat ourselves up so we need to have a logical pace.

You've read our Oct '10 OPLAN A for week in Paris & a week on the Normandy coast.

Or maybe we've been reading a copy of your OPLAN.

A small tidbit. I learned my lesson about trying to drive in Paris. Will never do that again.

We did all three areas, but did so in three seperate trips.

There's too much to see at each to do justice in a single trip....unless you are doing an extended (3-4 week) trip.

For us a car was the best mode of travel for Normandy & Provence. For Paris, into and out of by rail works well. The metro & bus in the city works best and was the most economic. Getting a week or longer pass saves money and time buying individual day or trip tickets.

My wife and I are seriously thinking of re-visiting Paris, taking a tour of Normandy and then coming back to Paris and on to Provence and then back to Ramstein. Has anyone done any of those segments. We would like very much to hear from you. All suggestions are welcome.
