Very interesting considering the British government owns the facility. |

Recommending sending your customer support comments of such an idea to the MWR office of concern. Patron use and financial viability will probably be two major factors in the decision. Any voiced CAT VI continuing support/patronage can only help validate how many Cat VIs currently patronize Fairford. This added to the AD and assigned personnel convenience may tip the decision in favor of MWR operations. The same needs to be done to all SPAT frequent locations, Hale Koa, etc. to help keep 'em open. |

Fairford is alternate landing site if the shuttle has to abort. It is an interesting fact. |

As you may have read on this site or in the Stars and Stripes RAF Fairford lodging is being closed as of August 2010. We stayed at Fairford last week for one last visit before it closed. While there we learned from the staff that there is currently a feasibility study being conducted to determine the possibility of turning Fairford lodging into a MWR facility. Fairford is located in one of the prettiest parts of England, the Cotswolds, and is also near many tourist sites - London, Stonehenge, Bath, Oxford, Blenheim Palace (where Churchill was born), Legoland, Cadbury World, and many great pubs in beautiful villages! I think Fairford would be an ideal location for a MWR facility and I would like to voice my support of this idea but am not sure who I should contact. Any ideas? Anyone else want to join in the chorus? |
