I'm in middle of major remodel and here is what I do and for once I can add something that might be of use to somebody. I wish I was writting this from some exotic place that I space A'd too. Instead of a rental with all the walls torn out. Home Depot- up $500 discount per visit No discount on installation, Lowes- up to $500 discount per 1 visit within 24 hour period. No discount on any special order, or installation. 1.Your mileage may vary. 2.Don't forget to $4.00 hot dog, chips and drink at Home depot. 3. I live in a big city. The inspectors, do just that- just inspect, very little help given. I have found giving my name and number to the salesperson in electrical, he was able to be me in touch with a lic electrician that moon lighted and he called me and got me straightened out on some 220 wiring going to detatched garage. |

Got the discount yesterday in the Home Depot of West Long Branch, NJ. Very cursory glance at the ID card. |

Lowes offer a 10% discount and as far as I know, it's on all purchases. I just bought a refrigerator for $1800 and received $180 off. I choose Lowes |

We have used it twice, at the one here in Gainesville. First time, the young man didn't know how to do, but got help and we saved money. We again used it this past week-end, with no trouble at all. |

Bill, Thanks much for the info! My wife and I stopped at the local Home Depot on Monday and when we requested the Military Discount the cashier said "no problem" (as opposed to the usual blank stare). Thanks again. Roger |

I sent an Email to Home Depot’s consumer affairs inquiring about their corporate policy regarding military discounts. Here is their response: “Dear Mr. Docekal, The Home Depot Customer Care is in receipt of your email. In reference to your e-mail, effective March 1st, 2010 we will offer, when asked, a 10 percent discount, up to a $500 maximum, to all active, reserve, retired or disabled veterans and their family members with a valid military ID. All other military veterans will qualify for a 10 percent discount during normal holiday events (e.g., Memorial Day, Veterans Day and Independence Day). This philosophy is consistent with our long standing price match guarantee. Please note that The Home Depot will offer a 10% Military discount up to $500.00 maximum. The Military discount cannot be combined with any other promotions and are NOT offered online through homedepot.com. During normal holiday events, it's Store Manager's discretion to offer the discount without a Military ID. A retired veteran must have qualified and gone through retirement with the Military. Disabled Veterans should have a Veteran's Identification Card (VIC) that is given to them from the Department of Veteran's Affairs. The VIC and their DL should be sufficient ID to get the everyday Military Discount. The Home Depot is dedicated to supporting and honoring our men and women in uniform through our business practices, recruitment efforts and corporate contributions. We offer this discount to thank them for their outstanding service to this nation and to help make their homes more comfortable and safe. We look forward to your continued patronage and assisting you with all of your home improvement needs.
