Mike, Sounds like you have much more foriegn currency/market experience than I but, I thought I would share some local opinion with you. I'm in Belgium on leave and staying with my in-laws. They are all of the opinion that the Euro will settle/stabilize even closer to the dollar. Not exactly one for one but close to it. They were saying that both the Flemish and Walloonian newscasters were saying the same.

Just curious why you don't think the rate will stay more favorable for long? Not, sure why they seem to feel it will settle closer to the dollar over here except that there is huge concern of the issue with Greece and that they also feel the US economy is rebounding.

I find it all facinating and of course it would be helpful for our mortgage over here if they settle closer to even.

L.

The British pound as of 11:45am EST is 1.4542, and the euro now sits at 1.2072, but remember this is what is selling wholesale on the markets. Unless you have an inside deal, you will have to pay a few cents more thru your bank.

Here are a couple of sites that I visit for up to minute prices on Currencies and Commodities markets and so on..just add them to your favorites.

http://finance.yahoo.com/

http://www.bloomberg.com/?

I hope this can help someone save a few dollars in the long run.

The euro is @ 1.2012 and falling this morning on the market. One any on CNBC (2 days ago) stated he believes it should be stable at or around 1.20- sounds to me like it should not go up anytime soon. If it jumps into the 1.25 range, buy, buy, buy....strong dollar this morning even tough retail sales are down, plus crude oil has drop 2% this morning. Also, if you have gold, sell it.

Mike I just exchanged $500 for euros at the Ramstein O'Club before I left for the States the other day as I thought the dollar was particularly strong or at least stronger than it has been in a while.

When the Euro was put in use it was .85 cents to the dollar for awhile. I just checked my old purchase reciepts. Back then I wish I could have bought more and put it away.

1.2351 as of 1:00pm EST, the stock markert is getting hit today, also the dollar is losing a bit of a bite, but on the other hand commodites are also losing at 1:00pm, around 70.00 bucks for a barrel of oil. and great news since watch the futhers drop on Gas on wholesale at 1pm it is USd/gal- 192.380 ,wonderful news trust me...
Now back to the Euro, please undestand, I don't think the euro will stay this low too long.

On my favorites is bloomberg.com, stocks are 15 minute delayed, also you can go to yahoo.com look under finance..

Mike: Could you possibly periodically post the price as it hopefully drops. I try to follow it in the newspapers and on-line but I'm not sure I am getting the correct amount. If it continues to fall I will purchase some in advance of a Fall trip. Thanks.

1,2361 as of 1am Central European Time. I wish it could be one for one....but that is what it started at over 10 years ago...who knows, but I don't think so!

At 1035hrs here in Germany, the price of one EURO is 1.2516. The price is great right now, and I play the markets, but not currency, even tough it is a component to most of trading with the dollar, also helps out our oil prices with a stronger dollar.
I believe that it will go lower, but not for long, so if you have a change, grab some EUROs.
This is my just my opinion so please understand to invest into something is taking a chance...
