Wasn't VP Dick Cheney from WY? Maybe they renamed Cheyenne after him!

Roger in Jacksonville, FL

Well, Charles was proposing uploading the recordings as MP3 files, not text. So you would click the link and hear the recording the way it was made. Warts and all.

I just finished posting the Scott schedule, and they are going to "Des-moy-nes Indiana" on Monday. I'm guessing Des Moines, Iowa. I'm constantly amazed that the personnel making the recordings quite often don't even know the state two letter codes.

Agree, there are many instances of garbled, misunderstood announcements on base recordings. This necessitates our posters having to post for example "flight to somewhere in Texas" or sounds like "Arkansas".

LOL, Cherry! True! Or, more likely, either talking too fast to understand the information or too softly, or both.

If you are hoping to capture data automatically from a voice recording, the technology will need to be much advanced from where voice recognition software is today! Anyone who has listened to base flight recordings for long enough has heard destination names mangled almost beyond recognition by some young people who apparently are totally ignorant of their country's geography.

My personal favorite, heard more than once on the Andrews recording, is "SI - Ox City, Iowa."

But I like my job and don't want to be replaced by a computer! :-)

The technology to dial a number, capture an mp3 file, and save it exists, (and just maybe a sound to txt capability is out there)-
a computer calls the space-a number, records the response, saves it as an mp3 file, file is posted here.
Tech wizard needed of course...
