If I remember correctly, it is an easy drive to Chattanooga, TN, and Huntsville, AL. Both are good tourist destination (Ruby Falls, Lookout Mtn., Rock City in Chattanooga and the NASA museum and Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville).

Great spot to RON. But, concur, out of the way. Stayed there twice and had a pleasant, scenic (slow) drive via rural roads to Millington

I was tDY there once, and have stayed overnight a couple of times space a while driving somewhere. Its a beautiful base, even has boats to rent for use on a reservoir. And there are tons of deer. But its a long way off the interstate.

And I prefer Dickel to Jack. JC

Will just add that I have stayed at Arnold E&T Center on a couple of occasions and found the rooms very nice and the base itself very nice. There were an abundance of deer that are used to the cars.

Always been a Dr. Jack guy myself, but I'm curious...how does Dickel compare in taste to Jack?

We are up there all the time to shop and eat and go by Arnold AFS px etc.

There is a small sign on the highway we use saying "Beechcraft Heritage Museum". We have been passing this sign for years but today we had little more time and went by.

It is a very nice museum in a park across the runway from the airport terminal.

We saw how big it was and decided we would not go through it today but will go back.

We met the manager whose husband is retired Army and they have never been Space a.

My first Space A flight was on an SN Beechcraft out of Barbers Point Hawaii to Hilo and back in 1961.

Below is the link.

One more thing. Everyone knows that Jack Daniel is at Lynchburg down the road from Tullahouma but not many know that George Dickel is made near Tullahouma. They do have tours.

They say George Dickel tastes the way it does because "George Dickel is the only Tennessee whisky to chill the whiskey before it goes into the charcoal mellowing vats."

All of this is very near Arnold AFS.
