We arrived in Spain through Barcelona on a cruise, May 2. They stamped our passport at the pier. The EU stamp was good at both Rota gates. We never went to the police station in Rota.
The Pax terminal manager told us the police were asking for copies of aircraft manifests to check names.

Tony, good advice. Hope to see you in Rota/Cadiz soon. Join me up in Ferrol one of these days ??

Please note, when we are talking about getting your passport stamped in the town of Rota, you get it stamped at the National Police office.

NOT at the city of Rota Police Station. These are two different police stations.

If you go to City of Rota Police station they will ask you to go to the National Police station.

As discussed on here many times in the past, the National Police station is out the Rota gate (walking distance from base lodging). Then turn left approx two blocks.

Walk straight down that street for about two blocks to the National Police station. Which is located on the corner to your right.

I will try to post Google map showing the location of the National Police station in Rota from the Rota gate.

If you catch a taxi to the "police station," the taxi driver may take you to the City Police Station. Some of the taxi drivers in Rota may ask you "which police station?" Since they have seen so many space-a paxs going to the National Police Station.

Mike,

I think the procedure hasn't changed. You must for one, get your 24-hour pass at the main gate and proceed to enter the base. You must make sure that the paperwork for the auto, be it rental or private, is in place, cause they will definitely ask for it. I also assume that if your passport hasn't been stamped, you must first go to the Police Station and then proceed to the main gate for your 24-hour pass.

Happy travels!
