Sorry about that!

Thanks, Roger, Lee & Carole.

If anyone wishes to read the trip report, please use THIS link:

http://space-afromcharlestontoitaly.blogspot.com/

For some reason, the hyphen between "space" and "a" did not get transferred in my post of 7 June.

Thanks, Danny, the link needs the hyphen. I enjoyed it very much, especially since I plan to go to Sigonella this fall.

Danny,
Your link to your blog on June 7 doesn't work. But your link on June 4 does work.
Enjoyed your trip report.

Roger, I don't understand why the link I posted doesn't work for you. I just now clicked on it again and it took me straight to where I posted the trip report.

If you simply cannot see the trip report and still want to read it, please send me a personal message and I will attach the file to a reply to you.

Roger, use the one from Danny three or four messages down. The one with the hyphen in it.

Hi, Danny, I tried to follow the link to see your trip report but it says the blog is not found. Can you recheck the URL and give us another chance? TIA.

Danny, if I recall correctly there may be some kind of limit on the size of a post. You can probably test this by copying a really long text file and trying to paste it into a post box on this website. If it all fits in that is great, if it doesn't, you will know where to section it.

I think the main purpose of an off-site posting of a trip report is to be able to format more attractively than can be done with a simple text file and embed photos. Try Google Documents, which is free. You can make your docs public and provide a link. See docs.google.com/demo for a demonstration.

All trip reports are appreciated.

I type my reports and such in Word. Then I highlight the text and do a copy in Word.
I go to the 'Add Your Message Here - Post:' and 'Paste.'
Works every time, except when I mis-type my Username.

Danny,

Dirk announced the page in January for folks that wanted to post multiple entries but nobody seemed to want to use it (guess they were used to the current format).

Here's the direct link but it looks like you already figured it out!

Sorry, but for some reason, the URL I pasted into my prvious post kept getting CHANGED when I previewed the posting before actually posting it.

IT KEPT ADDING A SPACE TO THE URL!!!

I just could NOT keep it from sticking in a space in the word "italy". It INSISTED on sticking in a space so that the word read: "ital y" and nothing I could do would get rid of that SPACE!

So, if you still want to read my trip report, try
THIS URL:

http://space-afromcharlestontoitaly.blogspot.com/

I have tried it and it does take me to the trip report I just posted on that web site.

Sorry for the problems.

John, it is 12 pages of Word single spaced text. I consider that a long read. You suggested:

"3. Post it on the page that Dirk setup for trip reports."

That's probably a good suggestion, John, but WHERE does one FIND that setup?

Carole & TR, thanks for your help. I THINK I have successfully posted the complete trip report on Google's "E Blogger" web site. I chose to try Google as I already had an email account with Google.

Here is the URL for my latest trip report, Charleston to Italy:

http://space-afromcharlestontoitaly.blogspot.com/2010/06/from-charleston-to-ital y-via-space.html

I will post that URL in the Trip Reports topic, too.

How long is long? I've seen some pretty long ones. Have you been unable to post it? If there are problems you can:

1. Post it in parts of the same thread.
2. Post it as a word or pdf file.
3. Post it on the page that Dirk setup for trip reports.
4. Post it to your own blog as recommende below and just provide a link.

Danny, if I can do a blog, I know you can. As Carole noted, the process is pretty simple and user friendly. Try google or word press- both are free:

You can try google blog. You just register, file your report, and then you can post the link for everybody to check out.

TR, if I knew how to do that, I would not have asked for help.

I have never used an online blog and don't know where to find out how to do that.

Man! It sounds like I am a newbie! I have had quite a bit of experience online, but I have just never even considered trying to use a blog.

Do you have any web addresses (URLs) for those free blog sites you suggested?

It seems to me that John D or perhaps Dirk has mentioned a web site where we can post long trip reports and just post a link to that web site on this board for other SPATS to see, but I could not find any mention of that in a search.

Danny, have you considered posting your TR to a (free) online blog, then just posting a short summary of your trip with a link to your blog here on Dirk's site?

Sorry for the fat fingers! I MEANT to title the post: HOW Can I Post a Long Trip Report!

I would have posted in the Trip Report section, but thought this topic would be the place to ask questions.
