In January 2010 Factcheck.org addressed (with subsequent updates) the chain email that Rinaldo posted here. Below I have copied a portion of their assesmment of the information contained in this email. You can read Factcheck.org's full appraisal of the email's claims here (they include sources to back their facts): http://www.factcheck.org/2010/01/retribution-fabrication/ Copied directly from Factcheck.org's website: "This rant is timely: It is hitting e-mail inboxes just as the first Social Security checks of 2010 are being prepared. But it’s not accurate. It combines two false claims we’ve addressed before, adds some made-up figures and tosses in an appeal to defeat all members of Congress who are up for reelection in the fall. We take no position on whether any House or Senate member deserves reelection or defeat, but the fact is they are all being falsely accused by whoever wrote this." |

Rinaldo, truer words were never spoken - at least lately. Your post illustrates what we (and "our" policians) are up against. Vote the liberals out who took our grandchildren's birthright away without our permission. |

Rinaldo: An awful lot of politics wrapped-up in your post. Isn't that a board no-no, especially by a moderator? |

Rinaldo, Rather than breaking out the old blunderbus and shooting into the crowd, it might be better to use a more focused approach. Both of my Senators and my Congressman have supported Medicare and Tricare and I see no reason to punish them because of others who use all kinds of flimsy excuses for not backing up those of us on the bottom of the food chain. Find out who the culprits are and make them pay; don't just shoot anything that moves. |

If there were ever anything worth putting on your refrigerator door to daily remind us of what we have to do come November, this is it... Subject: Retribution is less than 1 year away! Take a look at this and just remember elections in November 2010. U..S. House & Senate have voted themselves $4,700 and $5,300 raises. They voted to NOT give you a S.S. Cost of living raise in 2010 and 2011. Your Medicare premiums will go up $285.60 for the 2-years You will not get the 3% COLA: $660/yr. Your total 2-yr loss and cost is -$1,600 or -$3,200 for husband and wife. Over these same 2-years each Congress person will get $10,000 Do you feel SCREWED? Will they have your cost of drugs - doctor fees - local taxes - food, etc., decrease? NO WAY. Congress received a raise and has better health and retirement benefits than you or I. Why should they care about you? You never did anything about it in the past. You obviously don't care. Do you really think they care about you? Send the message to these individuals --- “YOU'RE FIRED!” In 2010 you will have a chance to get rid of the sitting Congress: up to 1/3 of the Senate and 100% of the House! Make sure you're still mad in November 2010 and remind their replacements not to screw-up. It is ok to forward this to your sphere of influence if you are finally tired of the abuse. Maybe it's time for Amendment 28 to the Constitution.. "Congress shall make no law that applies to the citizens of the United States that does not apply equally to the Senators or Representatives, and Congress shall make no law that applies to the Senators or Representatives that does not apply equally to the citizens of the United States ." Let's get this passed around, folks - these people in Washington have brought this upon themselves! It's time for retribution. Let's take back America . If you don't forward this to all your friends you're just part of the problem of national apathy. "Capitalism is the unequal distribution of wealth. Socialism is the equal distribution of poverty." - Winston Churchill |

Phil asks, "What are our kids going to do?" Unfortunately, if Congress keeps on its stupid ways, our kids are not going to make the military a career. And WE are going to advise them -- and other young people, as well -- not to do so, because for their own future's sake they must not rely on an organization that is not trustworthy. For generations, military members and retirees have been some of the most effective "recruiters" for all of America's armed services. This is not going to continue unless our government shapes up. So if our kids don't serve, then their kids or grandkids may be subject some day to Sharia law or else speaking Chinese... |

Phl, Jim, But, at the end of the rope "winners now" will become "loosers then", and many of them will regret it, if you know what I mean. Happy travels! |

Phil, your question is right on point! We all need to remember that TFL doesn't mean anything to the provider -- the provider still is paid only what Medicare authorizes. The TFL payment covers YOU (deductible and co-pay) but does nothing to enhance what the provider is paid. He may get the TFL payment a bit sooner than he gets it from you, but at the end of the day, it is the Medicare rates that are screwing us. |

Attention Medicare recipients... the writing is on the wall. As I have mentioned, we are moving to Grand Prairie, Texas. I started calling this morning to find another Primary Care Physician. The first doctor that I called was not accepting any new medicare patients. What good is medicare if no doctors will accept it? Yes, he knew that TriCare For Life was secondary. It made no difference. Yes, I did find a doctor and made an appointment. It was just discouraging to hear "we are not accepting any more Medicare patients". What are our kids going to do? |
