Dakota - Thanks for the reply - we were unable to make it to the Hollywood Bowl - so we decided to go to the Long Beach one instead. Our priorities are cost and distance. We wanted to see what if any lodging is closer to Long Beach. Would prefer to stay at military lodging if distance to Long Beach not that great. We will be flying in from northern California and renting a car upon arrival - local air port has a $29 one way fair to Long Beach Airport. (Allegiant Airlines - if anyone is interested. We have previously stayed at Los Alamitos, but not sure of the distance to Long Beach. |

Hi M Gordon, You had a similar post on 6-08-10 but for the Hollywood bowl. I did respond but did not get an answer. Hopefully you went and had a great time. There is nothing better than a CA festival. What facilities did you use? Most would be the same considerations as Long Beach. Fort MacArthur is again the base of choice but will not make reservations a couple of months in advance. You indicated that you had stayed to Los Alamitos!! Again, what are your priorities. I have "cruised" Carnival out of Long Beach and always found "acceptable" commercial lodging at reasonable prices. If you are looking for Military Lodging with reservations and Pt Mugu does it 2 months in advance, it is probably the way to go--at least make a reservation if military lodging is a priority. Be aware that it is a drive from Pt Mugu to Long Beach. If cost is a factor, look at Fort MacArthur or commercial. The rates in the area are comparable but some locations are suspect. Again, look at commercial around the Disneyland area. Again, what are your priorities? Have FUN!!! |

Hello All - hubby and I may attend the Long Beach Jazz Festival Aug 2010. Wanted anyone's input on the area and military lodging. Only lodging I found was Point Mugu (sp) Beach Motel that would take reservations this early. Will try Navy Gateway Inn 1 month prior. Any other suggestions on lodging closer to Long Beach or is Point Mogu (sp) only option. Also, has anyone been to this festival in Long Beach? Any advice or experiences would be helpful. |
