Probably more favorable sentiment would occur if any new additions were added only following the present categories list.i.e.Cat 7----and up.

The line has to be drawn somewhere. They keep making new regs and adding more travelers so who knows who will be next.

A worthy idea. I would also like to see spouses of deceased eligible for travel especially for those who gave their lives for the country.Seems unfair an active duty spouse for a new serviceman can use Space A for travel for shopping while a spouse whose married partner could have served thirty years then died cannot fly Space A. Anyone know the reasoning behind this reg??

A bill introduced by Rep. Don Young (R-AK) on May 26, 2010 would make space-available travel on military flights easier for retired reserve component members and their family members. H.R.5404 would make travel available to those people on the same basis as it is now for retired members of the active component. Currently, restrictions are greater for reserve component retirees and their families. In a press release, Young said, “Currently, if a Guardsman or Reservist retires before the age of 60, their dependents cannot fly space available on military aircraft. With a large number of Guardsmen and Reservists serving in Iraq and Afghanistan, this is a good way to show our support and appreciation for the men and women of our armed forces and the families that support them and support this country with all they have.” The bill has been referred to the House Committee on Armed Services.
