D.H,
that is the place! The Air Force had cabins, and think trailers there, they leased from the establishment. Don't know if Air Forces still leases there or not.

Going To The Sun (GTS) road is beautiful.

The visitor's center and lodge at the top had tons of snow even in mid June. Walked through the snow cut to get to the VC. Snow was like 15' to 25' high then in the cuts!

They didn't open the GTS road until 1st of June when were there.

The campgrounds/lodges on the east side seem to be better. Have better views.

The miniglacier campground and lodge is the best.
You drive north of the main GNP east side entrance on the state highway. Turn left off state road. Follow signs to miniglacier.
Also lodge on south side. That is where the “jammers” live

No trailers or larger RVs on the GTS road.

I don't live in that area but my wife and I spent a couple of nights at the Timber Wolf Resort, in Hungry Horse, a couple of years ago. It was clean and I think the rates were okay considering you are right outside Glacier National Park. www.timberwolfresort.com. That was on the west entrance of the park. If you want a real Glacier Park experience take a Jammer ride up the Going to the Sun Highway.

We stayed one night at the Glacier Park Lodge in one of those value lodge rooms. The experience was awesome. I spend the whole day trying to figure out why those 20 ton logs, suspended in the ceiling didn’t fall. It was an incredible experience. Mike, found new military travel guide. Does not list the trailers that were on the west side of Glacier NP. Guess no longer there.

I will do more checking and let you know.

They were rentals. Nice trailers. USAF had contract with campground/RV park there. Sorry

Mike,
Correction: Moutain Home has trailers for rent at Lionshead. Which is about 8 miles from west entrance of Yellowstone.

Looking for info on the base that has trailers on west side of Glacier NP. Will post that when find it.

Mike,
It is a lovely area and this is their high season. We stayed there 2 yrs ago at a time share which was nice. All the local places will probably have high rates due to the season and it is a short one in Montana. Be sure to go all he way around to the east side of the park where you can get a good view of the awesome glaciers and maybe see some big horn sheep. We loved the whole area and got some awesome pictures.
Good luck and have a great time.
Carole

My wife and I will be driving from Fairchild AFB to Kalispell, MT tomorrow and will be looking for veteran friendly (read affordable!) lodging in/around Glacier Natl. Park. Recommendations from any SPATs (or family/friends thereof) that live in this area would be appreciated.
