A change/correction on getting Bahn De train tickets. Last time I bought any, I was able to print them from the computer locally. The 8 day mail requirement has apparently now been changed -- for the better. I don't know if they have any limit on buying and printing tickets because I made sure to buy them well in advance of the 8 day requirement before I discovered the policy has changed.

Lyle,

According to a previous thread on Ramstein to Paris Irwin recommends catching a train from either Ramstein Village or Landstuhl to K'town to catch a train to Paris.

You can take a taxi from Ramstein AB to Ramstein Village or Landsthul Train Station.

OK, help me out here. If I want to go from Ramstein AB and catch a train to Paris do I go to Ramstein Village and catch train to K'town. Transfer in K'town to another route to Paris? Or should I take taxi from Ramstein AB to Landsthul Train Station? Or another suggestion was to take the medical bus to Landsthul and make my way to train station. Which is the best? Thanks for all your help.

Frankfort am Main is a combined transportation center -- and a huge new complex is nearing completion. Frankfurt Flughof is a major train station attached to the airport -- and is listed on the Bahn.de webpage for train schedule info. Taking the shuttle to Frankfort airport is highly recommended, especially if you are heading north -- i.e. Cologne, Brussels, Amsterdam, etc. , or east -- Berlin, Prague, Vienna, etc. You also save some money on the train fare. Of course, going west, i.e. to Paris, you are better off using the mainline connection through Kaiserslautern and you can get to K'town from Landstuhl depot of the Commuter train platform in Ramstein Village.

Lyle,

You may be thinking of the shuttle to Lanstuhl Medical Center - that would put you close to the train stop in Landstuhl.

The free shuttle goes directly from Ramstein AB PAX terminal to Frankfurt International Airport, and does not stop anywhere enroute. The same is true for the return from Frankfurt to Ramstein.

This thread deals with the bus from Ramstein to Frankfurt Airport(opposite direction from Paris). While not familiar with their route, doubt it stops at the Ramstein Bahnhof... My suggestion would be a taxi from Ramstein AB to Landsthul Banhof and catch a train going to Paris. OR, larger station would be Kaiserslautern but higher taxi fare. Bob

I think I recall someone say this shuttle is a good way to reach the train station from Ramstein. Can anyone confirm that? Any additional details about catching the train at this location to Paris?

I can confirm the details written by Erwin. My daughter and wife flew into Frankfurt on different days and my daughter cought a private shuttle from the USA that cost her 35.00 euro to Ramstein. My wife got in the next day and cought the free shuttle from the USO and the time was 14:00.

E.L.C,

Check the Ramstein page at Spacea.net (should have some useful; info on transportation (and other topics) you could use.

The free shuttle to Ramstein runs weekdays. It leaves from the PAX terminal at Ramstein at 10AM arriving around noon. It returns to Ramstein at 1400 or so. You can wait in the USO -- the driver usually stops in to announce the trip and sign up passengers.

The USO is now outside the terminal in a temporary trailer because of construction -- as of about 5 weeks ago when I came through. If you go out to the street, turn right and walk nearly to the end of the terminal, the USO is across the street -- look for a white-sided aluminum trailer -- there's a sign on it.
