There is a good trip report "Everything Italy" that you might want to read for info. |

Thank you all for your helpful replies. I've spent the past month researching everything I can on Space A travel, but some of the details are still a little confusing. I imagine our best lesson will come in the actual doing. We consider this a grand adventure, and are excited to become proficient Space Aers. |

The airport shuttle from Vicenza to Marco Polo airport is primarily for families PCSing but will take those not on orders Space A. It leaves base 6 different times Mon-Fri 0405, 0705, 1005, 1305, 1605 and 1905. It leaves the airport at 0520, 0915, 1215, 1515, 1815, and 2115. Weekend and American/Italian holiday it only runs 4 times. There is nothing after the 1305 run from base. This info was the latest from 2007 but you can call the central processing facility at DSN 634-8706 for the latest info. Comm from states 011-39-0444-71-8706 |

H. Jakob Michenfelder I'm planning a trip with my daughter this summer when on termial leave. One of my thoughts is to do the Navy (Fly Navy) southern route from Norfolk, working north Rome, Venice and then either flying out from Aviano. But have also consider the "Medic Evac" bus, Just to see more. Respectfully request more info on the bus service between Vicenza Caserma Ederle and Marco Polo airport. Found the info on the service to Aviano AB, so you could go by bus from Vicenza to Aviano. Plan B would be to go the northern route leaving from BWI to Ramstein either on to Aviano or Medic Bus. Thanks, V/R and Blessings, Chaps |

By all means take the train to Venice. It is so convenient to be dropped off at the S. Lucia station with the canal grande with its water taxis and buses right in fromt of you. Get a bus ticket (1 person, one suitcase) for 18 euros; it is valid for 24 hours and allows you unlimited access to the public water transportation system. A good way to see the canal grande withw all its buildings, or just go to the Rialto bridge, etc. By the way, there is a bus service from Vicenza Caserma Ederle to Marco Polo Airport, and from Marco Polo airport to Aviano AB, so you could go by bus from Vicenza to Aviano |

We did this trip in nov. backwards from venice. you can , take the bus from aviano to prodene. the bus lets you off at the train station. train to venice is a breeze. the train station has lots of water taxis to everywhere. the bus station is also close. turn right going out of the station, past the water taxis, over the walking bride and the buses will be in front of you. |

We were there about 9 months ago and drove rental car to town nearby I think Pordenone and took the train to Venice. Real simple for us. Make sure that you validate ticket before you get on the train if you try this method. Take Euros if you need to use the rest room in Venice. |

Suzanne, Welcome to the world of Space-A travel. Check the ground transportation info available on the spacea.net Aviano Wiki Page for helpful info and tips. While you're at it please review the other helpful resources at spacea.net. Finally, I just returned from a weekend in Venice and noticed that there is a fairly new bus service that travels between Aviano/Pordenone and Marco Polo Airport that may be helpful to you. For more info check the info and schedule at the ATVO Website. |

The hubby and I are taking our first Space A flight next month from BWI thru Ramstein and into Aviano. I'm trying to figure out the best (easiest) way to get from Aviano to Venice. Any suggestions? |
