Bud,

Agree with Peter, Vueling is excellent and very reasonable in price.

Happy travels!

Let me add a note about flying from Barcelona. In November, we took Vueling Airline to Jerez/Cadiz. New aircraft, excellent service, cost varies with day of travel. Sundays 70 euros, Monday 60, Tues and Wed 50, Thursday 60 euros, Friday 100 and Saturday 80. Flight takes 90 minutes. Go to www.vueling.com for more information. Highly recommend them.

You can fly, rent a car, or take the train to Rota. However, if you fly confirm the weight requirements as excess baggage fees are very high if you go over them. We flew Click Air a couple of years ago. Very nice airline. You can fly to either Jerez or Seville. Last year we took the train to Barcelona from Rota using the Tren Hotel. That took about 12 hours, but we had a two person compartment. That train leaves Barcelona around 8PM and gets into El Puerto around 8AM. There is also a fast train to Seville, daily, maybe 6 hours, then a slow train to El Puerto de Santa Maria or bus to Rota. See RENFE for train details. Lots of options. If your cruise stops in Cadiz, you may want to jump ship there. Then, Rota is a 30 minute commuter boat ride. Lots of choices.

Clarence,

There's a couple of threads under Ground Transportation on traveling between Barcelona and Rota. Unless you want to head commercially to Germany or Italy for trip to CONUS, Rota or Moron are about your only Space-A options from Spain.
