Thanks for the come-back, John D.

I have taken "local" buses in Sicily, but none that cross over to mainland Italy and to points north. I would imagine that there are some bus lines that do that, but so far, my search has not turned up anything.

I was hoping some other SPAT was familiar with Italian commercial bus service and would share that knowledge with others. I am constantly amazed at the wealth of first hand information that is displayed on this board!

Danny,

The Sigonella Wiki Page has a link to the bus service/schedule that will get you to Messina.

From there it's the ferry to the mainland. Unless there is some sort of long-distance bus service I suspect it will probably be hard to piece together all the local bus connections to Maratea but I suspect doable.

I am planning a trip to Italy this spring. I am wondering if anyone on this board has knowledge of the commercial bus routes from Catania (Sicily) to Maratea (on mainland) or from Naples to Maratea? (Maratea is on the west coast of Italy south of Salermo.)

I know I can get to Maratea by train north from Catania and south from Naples, but I would like to know if it can be done by bus as well.

Thanks for any help you can offer.
