The discontinuance of the Ramstein-Hahn bus sure sucks. I think they must have deleted the stop at the gas station outside of Ramstein front gate, but not eliminated the bus. It was always pretty full. I have taken it several times to get from Ramstein to Hahn and fly to Bratislava. |

Was at the KMCC at Ramstein AB this Thursday. Saw a couple of taxis standing there . They had the following advertisement on them: " Road-Runner Taxi, Ramstein AB, Frankfurt-Hahn, tel: 06371-976140, email: info@taxi-roadrunner.de". Don't know their rates. But I guess whoever needs their service can email them. There was also taxis with "Alex taxi service" there. Didn't get their number. |

The Bohr bus company changed the location of its bus stop at Frankfurt International, effective March 28, 2010. The new bus stop is at Terminal 2, opposite exit E 9. Here's the link to the new information: http://omnibusse.bohr.de/routes/wtc/routes.php?action=detail&route_id=2&language =en |

Patrick, this info from the Hahn airport website. Refers to where to get the bus from Frankfurt-Main airport to Frankfurt-Hahn airport: Place of departure Frankfurt Airport: Bus-Station, Terminal 1, arrival area in front of hall B - bus-stop number 22. You will find this info and bus schedules to/from the two airports at this website: http://omnibusse.bohr.de/routes/wtc/routes.php?action=detail&route_id=16&languag e=en Good luck |

Thanks, John Right after I posted I found the answer in an earlier discussion. Our flight comes in after the free shuttle but the paid shuttle might work. I also got a quote from "alex shuttle services" for 100 euros one-way, Hahn-Ramstein (don't know if he can go on base) and he meets you at baggage. I don't think you can get a rental car for 1 day with a drop-off for that cheap. Of course, if you didn't get a hop and found yourself hanging around a little longer, at least you would still have your rental! |

Referring to Richard H.'s post - do I understand that there is still a daily shuttle (free?) from Frankfurt Mainz to Ramstein? If so, when and where do you get on and when and where does it arrive at Ramstein? |

If I take the Ramstein to Frankfurt daily shuttle, where do I get the local bus to Hahn? What is bus # and how often does it make the Frankfurt-Hahn trip? Appreciate any info. |

I found this option but it is very expensive: http://www.airport-shuttle-ramstein.com/preise_hahn.html And I checked europcar. The cheapest car is around $76 for 1 day. That is definitely cheaper than the shuttle service above provided a small car is available. |

Alot of folks go to Hahn to get back to England. An option is the Euroline bus. It is not cheap, not fast, but it gets you to England in about 12 hours. Beats waiting 3 days for a cheap RyanAir ticket, then spending 4-5 hours getting to Hahn thru Frankfurt. It also goes thru Cologne and Aachen which might be better options because they are in the correct direction to start with. The below is for Frankfurt. I could have sworn that I saw a schedule that takes you from Kaiserslautern. http://www.touring.de/index.php?id=985&SP=EN&sAbfOrt=LONDON&sZielOrt=FRANKFURT%2 0MAIN%20HBF&datum=11.03.2010&rueckdatum=08.03.2010&P=1&OP=nein&S=ja&Z=Kreditkart e&OT=Ja&L=1 |

The alternative to the discontinued Airport Shuttle is to use a combination of the local Bus Route #600 to Mainz Train Station and train to Landstuhl. You can use this DBahn link to plan a trip from Hahn Airport to Landstuhl - just plug in your date and time. Reverse the locations for the return route. |

Edward: As Leland just pointed out, the whole purpose of this thread was to notify us that the transportation you identified (Ssherer-Reisen) is being discontinued as of 1 Mar 10. See: http://scherer-reisen.de/reisen/de/home.php Happy travels, John |

There is a commercial van from the Shell station outside Ramstein AB which goes to the Frankfurt Hahn airport. I did this last year to get to the UK via Ryanair. The cost of the van is 11 Euro. For more info check the website http://scherer-reisen.de and click on airport shuttle. |

You could take the free shuttle bus from Ramstein PAX Terminal to Frankfurt Airport (not Hahn),which goes Mondays through Fridays at 10 am, takes about an hour and a half- then take a bus from the airport to Hahn. Not sure how much it costs (? about 12 Euros one way). |

I’m in Alexandria, Va., and was doing my homework in preparation for a trip from Andrews AFB to London, via Ramstein AB, Frankfurt-Hahn and Stansted. I had made this trip once before. I have no personal knowledge of the Ramstein area, but I’m hoping to find some sort of link to the airport via local bus and rail. Perhaps someone who has been stationed at Ramstein could provide guidence. |

There is a "You pay for it shuttle" from Spangdalham to Ramstein which must be booked in advance. The cost was $75.00 for two. A group of individuals rented a van with driver and the cost was 40 Euros per person. The van was there in an hour and took us directly to Ramstein. Those going to Frankfurt-Hahn airport now will have to pay a much higher price. Happy Travels. |

I know from Spangdalham there is/was a "You pay for it Shuttle" that had to be booked in advance that would take you to Hahn. At the time we were there, they were booked, so I didn't get a price. Maybe somebody might start up a "You pay for it Shuttle" going from Ramstein to Hahn. I know I don't want to pay for a taxi to get to Hahn, the car hire might be the only option. Getting to Frankfurt Main from Hahn, then getting to Ramstein might work. Anyone out there know the route, or where to check? |

Don: Except for a rental car which probably has a drop-off fee, what alternative public transportation is there to Hahn from the Ramstein area? Does one have to go to the Frankfort Main airport and then travel from there to Hahn? Thanks |

The Frankfurt-Hahn official tourist guide on-line is announcing that Saarbrücken <> Frankfurt-Hahn Airport shuttle bus (which stops at Ramstein autohof) is being DISCONTINUED effective 1 March 2010. This link is essential for making the link to RyanAir. |
