John, I don't remember if it was Speicher. We got off the train,it was dark and the only building at the end of the platform was a neighborhood bar. I went in and said I want to get to the air base. The bartender conferred with his customers, laughed at a joke, brought me a beer, and told me to wait for the taxi. We talked and drank until the cab came. They wished me well and I thanked them. Short time later I was at the base. Bottom line: Ask someone at the base (USO?) or contact the train station via computer or phone and ask where the closest train station is. |

Don't know if this helps, but we took a train from the Frankfurt airport to a small station a few miles from Spangdahlem and got a taxi from there to the base. It was the station just before Trier. If you could backtrack our trip, this might be cheaper than the other alternatives. |

There is a schuttle that will take you from Spangdahlem to the Frankfurt International Airport with a stop at Ramstein. You can reserve a space with a office which is in the same building with lodging. The cost for two to Ramstein was $75.00. The shuttle leaves early in the morning and will get you to the airport prior to 8 A.M. Happy Travels. |

Harry, either you can go to Ramstein and take that free shuttle that leaves at 1000 am right outside the terminal going to Frankfurt International airport (FRA). |

I spoke to the Shuttle office a few days ago. It can be reached through the lodging office. They stressed that the shuttles leave in the morning and are by reservation only. They will try to assist late comers but when the seats are taken then you look at the next available day. |

No free bus, sorry to say, not even to Ramstein, There is/was a shuttle that would/could take you. They had a office in the Lodging building when I was there in Oct. I can't tell you the cost, but to get to Ramstein I think it was $75 for two. |

Any advice on getting from lodging at Spangdahlem to Frankffurt International Airport next week? Is there anything equivalent to the USO shuttle from Ramstein AB to Frankfurt |
