I agree with William Standage. I have done the Amtak route and it is interesting. Another option that you might watch but I would not count on it--is to watch Craigslist under Rideshare. Check the Sacramento of San Francisco locations on Craigslist. Most people are doing a north to south route or local locations but I-80 goes close to Travis to Salt Lake City and sometimes that does show up. It also continues on through the Midwest. You might be lucky. If you are Lucky, it also goes through Reno and put in a bet for me!!! It depends on how valuable your time is, how flexible you are and if you have more time or money. Your profile is not giving a lot of info!!! |

Very rare to find a space-a hop to SLC. Try Amtrak from Fairfield/Suisun to SLC. Discounts for Military, Seniors, & AAA. One train per day leaving in afternoon and arrives at O-dark thirty in the early AM. Alternate routing, Ck SW air from either Sacramento, or Oakland. |

What's a good way to get to Salt Lake from Travis? (trying to avoid the HUGE airfares!) |
