If I were in Knoxville and heading to Ramstein, I'd head to Jackson, Ms. for the almost sure thing. You can leave your car there and work your way back or take a 1 way rental and drop it off at the Jackson airport. They use the same field but it is about a $15 cab ride from 1 side to the other. There should be a C17 heading out toward Ramstein late on the day you want to leave. Many of the Friday flights overfly Andrews and you will get there very quickly, without having to "hope" for a flight from Dover. Just keep watching the Jackson flight schedule on this board. |

Thanks Phil. After looking at http://spacea.net/mediawiki/index.php?title=Dover_AFB and talking to the wife we've decided to drive our car and park in long-term. Even if we return to BWI or Andrews we'll be ahead of the game. |

Get on the Hertz web site, choose a one way rental from Philly airport to Dover (1679 South DuPont Highway) and see what you come up with. It looks like about $140.00 for a Hyundai Accent or similar. Don't forget that Dover Hertz rental closes at noon on Saturday. |

Does anyone have any suggestions for getting from Philadelphia to Dover. I've heard there are no rental car drop-off points in Dover and that there is a shuttle to Dover. We're driving from Knoxville on April 2. Our ultimate destination is northern Italy so we will be trying for Ramstein. Any other suggestions would be very well received. Thanks. |
