Ronald, the distance from the main gate of NSA New Orleans to the Algiers Ferry Dock is about 1 3/4 miles.

Paul sent you some good information about the bus lines. It is possible to catch the #102 bus just outside the NSA main gate and then to make connection with the #108 bus which eventually takes you to the Algiers Ferry Dock.

After dark, take a taxi.

Agree with Bob about time of day. You could always use your cell phone to call a taxi to meet you on the Algeirs side. I know the distance involved but would not want to walk it under most circumstances.

NO Transit line #102 looks like it passes by the main gate on its way to Elks Place/Canal. It looks like #108 crosses this line and runs by the ferry.

An answer would have to depend to some degree whether either your departure or return would be during the hours of darkness. The most economical way may not be the most comfortable way. The ferry is the simplest and least expensive. The question is whether you take a taxi from the main gate to the ferry or walk. I don't think there is a taxi rank at the ferry though for your return trip.

The most economical way is your feet to walk to the Algiers Ferry. I don't know of bus transportation but recommend you call and see if NSA can help you out. Do a search using the tool at the top of this page as this subject has been discussed before. Good Luck and Stay Safe.

What is the most economical transportation from New Orleans Naval Support Activity to Canal St.? Also, is there a bus between the Algier's Ferry Landing on Morgan St. & New Orleans Naval Support Activity? What number? Thank you in advance!
