I also reccommend Mr. Freeman, we have used him on all 5 of our space A trips from Ramstein to Charleston, he is always fast and always remembers us.

I have used Mr Freeman on so many occassions that I have his number programed into my phone. He is top notch in my books. He always seems to be within a few minutes away when I call, and always there when I needed a ride. Typically I travel from the AMC terminal to the Greyhound station, but Mr Freeman has always been willing to swing thru the drive thru at BK so I can grab a sandwich. I recommend him to folks anytime I pass thru CHS and see someone needing a taxi.

We visited Charleston and needed to be picked up from Lodging and taken to the terminal for a 5A.M. roll call. I called all the cab companies listed on the list given at the terminal and Mr Freeman was only company who wanted the type of business we needed because lodging is less than a mile from the terminal. I again thank Mr Freeman for the service his company provided to the Charleston community. Happy Travels.

I was at Charleston about a month ago and I called Horace Freeman's taxi service and I reached a voice mail. Left a message. Never got a callback. I was able to get another cab from the terminal to the commercial airport rental car location. I have heard many good things about Freeman's cab company but it did not do me any good.

Danny,
The price quote was from Sep '09 from long term parking on the AF side to the commercial side. It's possible inflation has upped the price by 50% if you used him since then.

Jack, the last time I used Horace Freeman's taxi service from Charleston Airport to Charleston AFB, the cost was $15, not $10.

Not complaining, it is well worth the $15 for his services.

James,
So it looks like the choice is CARTA for $2 and 1:10 of time and walking a solid mile,

OR... Freemans, $10, 15 mins, and at the front of the terminal...

Expiditous convenience sounds like the way to go to me..

Thanks, Larry. I knew there was a way to do it. I don't know why CARTA hasn't replied. JC

CARTA will get you there for less than two bucks:

You can take Bus 11 from the airport south to the "SuperStop" on Dorchester (approximately a 30 minute trip), then catch Bus 12 from there North to the base's Main Gate, also on Dorchester (another 40 minutes). The PAX terminal is a mile or so from the gate, billeting about half that distance.

James,

Try Horace Freeman's Taxi, telephone 843-830-7673. Horace is a military retiree and the owner of his taxi company. Everything I've heard about Horace is excellent, so try him.

Happy travels!

Is there a way to get around to the Chas AFB side of the airport from the commercial side? I emailed CARTA (Charleston Transit Authority) but no answer. JC
