Wanda, Thanks for your suggestion -
We ended up taking the night Blueline Ferry from Split to Ancona. Rented a Hertz car and drove to Vicenza (about 3 hrs. + hefty toll). At Ederle we picked up our Europcar for a week and had a ball touring around Italy. It's been quite an adventure of planes, trains, taxis, buses, ferry, and automobiles.

If we can't get from Croatia to Hahn (via Ryanair) does anyone have any other ideas? For example, since we're presently in Split has anyone ever taken the bus to Trieste, Italy? What about the night ferry from Split to Ancona? Our final destination is Aviano.
