Mike, We brought the car in on a one-way from Andrews. Re-did the contract because it would be "cheaper". So, no, we didn't reserve on line. When we asked, we were told it wouldn't be much cheaper. We were also told that the weekends are nearly half price....of course, they aren't open most of the weekend. Guess car rental can be expensive, sometimes and some places. We could have walked and spent all days/nights sitting in the terminal.....NOT! Just need to adjust my attitude, I reckon. Thanks for the code. We'll try that next time. |

Mary, with regards to the McGuire/Ft Dix Hertz office...did you make a reservation online or just walk up to the counter? On the Hertz website, I've made a reservation online in the past at this location but had to use a special CDP number in order to make the reservation. The number is 331 or 332. Usually a few dollars cheaper than what you paid. A little more cheaper if you rent on the weekend. _ |

I didn’t ask the daily rate, but when I walked by the Hertz kiosk at the Elmendorf mall a couple of days ago, I asked if folks could drop off their Hertz rentals at the terminal. I was told “yes, but their will be an additional charge of $35.00”! I have not been charged anything extra at Hickam or Charleston in the past. I don’t know if their policies have changed. |

I just did an Andrews AFB Hertz one day rental with drop off on Long Island, NY that cost $93.00 in total. Orginal reservation thru USAA was slightly less daily rate but with mileage charge. I missed that fine print until very nice lady at Andrews Hertz pointed it out. She modified reservation to above fixed cost price. I had reserved economy car but got larger at no add'l cost. The tolls to NY are the killer! |

I rented a car in March from Ft Dix/McGuire. Kept the car for 9 days, dropped off at Norfolk. $396.00 total. Was suppose to be for One day, but they told me it would be cheaper to extend rather than turn it in and then redo it. |

I recently rented a Hertz Compact at Oceana and dropped it at Greenville, NC Airport. Cost $110.00 for one day with a USAA discount. Best I could do. $60.00 was the daily rent and $50.00 was the drop fee calculated at $0.25 per mile. I thought the daily rent was high but could not find any other source that I could get to on foot or would pick me up. Enterprise in VA does not allow out of state drops. |

We recently rented the smallest compact (Yarus) at the Bx Hertz office. The daily rate was $51, after USAA discount and before taxes. That seems excessive to us. Has anyone else been stuck with such a lousy rate for the privilege of dropping the key in the PAX terminal box? |
