Hertz (Local Edition) is in Huber Heights, not far from back gate at WP. They will pick you up and bring you out to their faiclity. Here is paste of Hertz web directory: Wayside Collision HLE Address: 6000 Executive Boulevard Huber Heights, Ohio United States Phone : 937-236-8363 Hours of Operation: Mo-Fr 0800-1730, Sa 0900-1200, Su Closed _______________ Avis is just outside Gate C12, but not sure if they will pick you up at terminal. And not all gates are open on weekend/holidays -- this base has more gates than Carter has pills! |

Earl, thanks for the less than pleasant news of their demise but I can now plan accordingly. |

Bob, the Hertz office on base is long gone. Also, Enterprise is gone too. No longer any rental cars companies on base at WP. Reason is the exchange wanted 20% or more of their profits. Plus a fee for setting up an office in the exchange mall (actually a hallway at WP exchange store). I agree with the rental car companies that were far too much to run a business. Closest Hertz is Beavercreek, Ohio. They will give you a ride to base if you are tuning a car in. Or, you can go to the Hertz office at the Dayton Airport. Most of the time the Beavercreek office will not pick you up for the rental but you can be reimbursed the taxi fee to get there. This is done by the Beavercreek office. I do not know if the airport office will reimburse taxi fees or not. |

Earl, is Beavercreek the closest Hertz rental agency to WPAFB? I'm debating a one-trip to Scott or WPAFB. Scott has a Hertz desk in the Scott PX which makes it very convenient for a one-way drop. It seems that quite a while ago WPAFB had Hertz on base. |

I've taken Greyhound from Dayton to Indy a few times. Pleasant trip, just a few hours and no transfers. I don't think they even make any stops between the two cities. |

Being from WP, I would say rental car may be the best option. Rent Hertz out of Beavercreek, Ohio. No one way drop off fee. If you return it to them they will give you ride to the base. Other than asking someone for a ride...ground to Indy is limited from WP. May be commerical bus but don't use such. When will you be in WP area? I am open to give you a ride. As far as mil transportation, call the Finance Center at former Ft Ben Harrison. They may have something from WP to there. Or call exchange/commissary at former Ft Ben..they also may have something from WP. just a idea. |

You need to disclose your space a category before anyone gives you advice. |

I am looking at traveling from Kadena,Okinawa through Hickam, HI and on to Wright-Patterson, OH just outside of Dayton. Other than renting a car, would anyone have suggestions on getting to Indianapolis? |
