The difference is the use of the ICE train. From Landstuhl to either Kaiserslautern or Mannheim, you ride the local. From the "big cities" to Frankfurt, you take the ICE. |

Does anyone know why it is only 8euro from Landstuhl to Mannheim, but it is 28-36euro (on the dbahn website) to go only twice as far from Landstuhl to Frankfurt? Is it regional versus ICE trains? |

The train fare from Landsthul to Kaiserslauten is €3.50. The fare from Landsthul to Mannheim is about €8, the taxi fare is about €100. |
